The suite's main window parallels that of
Spyware Doctor in many ways. It has the same five buttons down the left
side, the same Intelliguard real-time protectors, the same
extra-strength tools for tough malware, and the same scan choices. The
main status page adds buttons for the firewall and antispam components,
naturally, and you'll find a few additions in the settings, but Spyware
Doctor users will be very comfortable with the layout.
Powerful Malware Removal
PC Tools confirmed that the suite's ability to clean up malware exactly
matches that of Spyware Doctor alone, so I didn't have to run those
tests again. When malware on one test system prevented Spyware Doctor
from installing, I used all its advanced cleanup tools (Threat Removal
Tool, File and Registry Tool and bootable rescue CD) to no avail. In the
end, tech support supplied detailed instructions for manual
removal—about as much fun as a root canal.
With the installation problem out of the way PC Tools excelled, scoring 7.8 of 10 possible points for malware removal. Only Norton Internet Security 2011 ($69.99 direct for three licenses, 4.5 stars) scored higher, with 7.9 points. Like Webroot Internet Security Complete 2011 ($79.95 direct for three licenses, 4.0 stars), Panda Internet Security 2011
($79.95 direct for three licenses, 3.0 stars) and several others PC
Tools detected 100 percent of the rootkit samples. It earned a new high
score of 9.1 points for rootkit cleanup; Webroot held the old record
with 8.0 points.
PC Tools, like Webroot, did better than most detecting and removing
commercial keyloggers. It didn't remove scareware quite as well, scoring
7.8 points in that test. For details on how I test malware removal and
derive these, scores see How We Test Anti-malware

In large-scale tests by American and international independent labs,
antivirus technology from PC Tools generally scored quite well. For full
details on those tests and my own testing, see my review of Spyware
Doctor.
I'm using AVG protection for a couple of years now, I would recommend this product to all of you.
